BTCPay Server is a cryptocurrency payment processor that allows you to receive payments in Bitcoin and altcoins directly, without fees, transaction costs or intermediaries.
BTCPay is a non-custodial invoicing system that eliminates third-party intervention. Payments made with BTCPay are paid directly to your wallet, enhancing privacy and security. Your private keys are never required to receive payments on BTCPay. There is no address reuse, as each invoice uses a new address to receive payments to your wallet.
You can use BTCPay even without an online store. You can also accept payments via POS (Point of Sale) or payment buttons, which can be copied and pasted as HTML snippets onto any website.

If you have paid an invoice to a merchant and are experiencing a problem with your order, you should contact the merchant directly for further information.
Each merchant using BTCPay controls their own store and the connected wallets that receive funds. TattooNumeric does not hold or have access to the funds of a BTCPay store. Only the merchant has access to them.
Reusing an address to receive payments poses a privacy issue. Manually providing a different address to each customer isn't an optimal solution. Imagine having to send a unique email to each person who wants to pay you in cryptocurrency.
BTCPay solves the problem of address reuse. It automates the payment process for the merchant by creating a new invoice with a unique address from their wallet for each payment made with BTCPay. If you use an integration with an online store, the BTCPay server integrates into your payment process, and your customers can pay you in Bitcoin or altcoins in just a few clicks, just like with any other traditional payment method.
After a customer pays, the BTCPay server notifies your store that the order has been paid/completed. Depending on the e-commerce software used, it may also change the order status. All you have to worry about is shipping the items.
The BTCPay server incorporates an important feature that eliminates the privacy issue associated with address reuse. To achieve this, a new address is provided for each payment request. Everything is automatic, and the merchant no longer needs to know which addresses belong to which wallet, store, etc. The BTCPay server organizes all payment information into a detailed billing system for the merchant.
The way it works is quite simple. Merchants connect a wallet to each store they want to receive payments to. Invoices generated for in-store payments are directly linked to the merchant's connected wallet. Billing addresses are derived from the wallet associated with the store. BTCPay only needs your wallet's extended public key to generate new addresses for each payment. These addresses are monitored by the BTCPay server as they are transferred across the blockchain. The status of payments made to these addresses is detailed on the merchant's billing page for each store.
